Brookton Railway Station - Preserved in Miniature

An earlier post touched on the demolition proposal for the Brookton Railway Station and I may not be able to single-handedly prevent the demolition, but the very least I could do, is to make a contribution to the preservation, by way of building a 1:87 scale model of the railway station - as near as possible that is, given the difference in scales.

Although nothing is likely to replace the original building, a scale model does preserve the building in a similar likeness and makes a major contribution to the Saltwater Creek Railway layout by being the primary station for all trains.

Here's a thought!

Why is the drive through Western Australian regional areas, best accompanied by a large box of tissues? Well in viewing so many of our disused and decaying railway assets, they just evoke a strong sense of misery and sometimes anger. But wait, on the upside, these spaces are also a playground for imagination and creativity. Photographers, urban explorers, and artists find inspiration in the decay, turning these wastelands into galleries of modern-day ruins.

That box of tissues is more than just a prop - it's a part of our journey, a silent supporter in our corner, urging us to keep going, keep remembering, one sniffle at a time.
Onward and upward to the next unused and nearly forgotten railway station!

As for Brookton Railway Station, well there has been a stay of execution in the demolition order, so we'll see if common sense prevails. Once it’s gone, there'll be nothing left to pass on to future generations and besides, what an insult to the hard work and involvement of those before us….shameful thought!

I'm more than happy to answer questions regarding Saltwater Creek Railroad or any other model train related questions. I'm always more than happy to try to help you out."I find that seeking perfection is never as smart as making progress..."

I now realise that I should have retired after I left schoool, that way I could have played trains while others were working. However, I think there's a flaw in that somewhere!
